The Painted Hills are one of the Seven Wonders of Oregon and after seeing them for the first time, it's really no wonder why! (ba dum tss)
Each band of yellow, orange, red and black reveals various geological eras dating back 35 million years. Formed by volcanic activity and changing weather patterns, the hills themselves are always changing. With different seasons, temperatures, humidity levels and light, the colors transform and shift from soft and pastel, to rich and vibrant. Since people are not allowed on the hills it can be difficult to get a sense of scale in an image. If I knew what animal caused the tracks off to the left, that may help to get an idea. Regardless, don't ya just wanna touch em?!
